Our Roots

The legend is that Newton came to the idea that gravity exists when an apple suddenly tumbled upon his head. The road to Deducers was a similar path.

Founders Rebecca Olson and Kacey Warren had known each other for years through a mutual acquaintance (Ed Rhine—Kacey’s husband). Over one of their friendly gatherings, Rebecca was discussing her role as a producer and stated offhandedly, “someone should really make a class to teach this stuff.” Fast forward five or more years, and Kacey, an educator and instructional designer, felt the thud of an idea smack her in the head, “well, that’s what I do.”

Why Rebecca’s comment had stuck over those many years, and why it decided to start sprouting in her brain in the warmth of 2022, Kacey did not know. . . but with a latent admiration for the creative industry that she had inherited from her husband, she was extraordinarily grateful for the jolt. So, she decided to bring her professional skills to the table, and she returned to Rebecca, with the idea that Rebecca had borne so many years before.
